Following years of experience working with The Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales and other organisations responsible for the nation’s rivers and waterways, Spencer has the knowhow and equipment to offer a comprehensive maintenance and management service.
Its work has included the clearance of rivers and drainage systems in order to ensure the water flow is unexpended and thereby reduce the risk of consequential flooding.
Services include riverbank repair and maintenance, as well as conservation work to ensure reed beds and vegetation is controlled in order to provide the best possible habitats for the wildlife that lives on the water’s edge and in the river itself. Spencer’s work in this sector has also seen it instigate flood defence schemes, involving the construction of walls and barriers, as well as being called upon to remove obstructions and structures from rivers.
Ponds and lakes
If a ponds or lake is required, Spencer will initially carry out a site survey, produce a report, taking all aspects into consideration and then set out a plan for construction. Once approved, Spencer has the resources to carry out the work form start to finish, from excavation and water and surface management, to fish stocking, planting schemes, pollution control, filtration, purification and the construction of silt barriers, reed bed and wetland creation.
Spencer takes pride in working in an ecologically responsible manner. It has the experience to advise clients of best practice and can provide environmental surveys to establish the most effective ways of managing habitats.
The company is certified to ISO 14001: 2015 and ISO 9001: 2015 and it is familiar with the requirements of working in protected and ecologically sensitive areas, such as SSSIs, SACs and National Parks. Spencer will also deal with disposal and recycling of the materials, manage and control wildlife, the protection of endangered species and the preservation of rare plants.
