Spencer opens new office in Scotland

10th February 2012

Due to an increasing demand for its services in more-and-more areas of the UK, Spencer is pleased to announce that it has now opened a new office facility in Scotland.

The growth in the company’s number of bases is designed to help provide an even better service for its clients – both new and existing – across the length and breath of the country.

Based in Stirling, Spencer’s latest administration facility has been set up to deal mainly with the growing number of site clearance and forestry operations that are taking place in Scotland, in particular those that coincide with new wind energy installations in rural or isolated areas. Indeed, Spencer has recently been contracted to carry out an extensive clearance programme in a series of Welsh forests – should planning permission be granted – in readiness for four major wind farm projects.

Another increasing sector of business for Spencer – and one which is significant in Scotland - involves its forestry division. The company has a long history in woodland operations and therefore specialises in clearance, harvesting, transportation, processing and the production of biomass.

The supply of high-quality wood chip and other timber-based bio fuels has become an important factor in recent times, as the need for sustainable energy continues to grow. This increase in demand has led Spencer to invest strongly in plant and equipment in order to keep pace with the expanding forestry management and Bioenergy market.

Spencer anticipates that its site-clearance services will also be required in Scotland, as this well-established side of its business is now much in demand with contractors, developers and civil organisations across the UK.

Heading up the Scottish office is Gavin Hutton, who can be contacted as follows:
